In 1978 Patrick Meyer and Ken Sentner started a weekly Gay Men’s Support Group, which met on Monday nights through 1982. It started out with 15 men but soongrew to 90 men meeting each week at the Louden Nelson Community Center. The drop-in group served as a place where men could meet each other, discuss common experiences as they came out, and develop a sense of community. Group members created several spin-off groups including the Wednesday Night Volleyball Gathering (still going), a Spanish speaking potluck, a Gay and Lesbian Democratic Club, a hiking group, a monthly evening coffeehouse and much, much more.

Now in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Santa Cruz Pride we will be holding a reunion luncheon for the Men’s Group Alumnus.
